Hiking in Paro
As you arrive at Paro International Airport on Day 1, you will be welcomed by our team and escorted to your hotel for check-in. Once you settle in, you will meet with your tour guide, who will give a personalized orientation on the adventures ahead. Enjoy your first night in Bhutan at your leisure, strolling through the charming streets of Paro town and soaking in the local ambiance.
Start Day 2 off strong with a morning hike to Taktsang Monastery, also known as Tiger’s Nest, an iconic symbol of Bhutanese spirituality, perched dramatically on a cliffside. A gourmet picnic lunch awaits you at the top, which you can enjoy amidst breathtaking views overlooking the monastery, before commencing your return hike to Paro. For those seeking further exploration, an optional evening cycling tour around Paro Valley offers the perfect opportunity for unveiling the valley’s hidden treasures.
Sightseeing and Fly fishing in Thimphu
On Day 3, you will take a scenic drive to Thimphu, the vibrant capital city of Bhutan. Your day will begin with visits to the National Memorial Chorten, a revered Buddhist shrine, and the magnificent Tashichho Dzong, a fortress-monastery that houses the throne room and government offices. Later, wander through the lively markets of Thimphu, where you can find handicraft mementos and keepsakes to take home. As the day comes to a close, try out the national sport by opting for an archery lesson in the evening.
Day 4 promises a series of thrilling adventures as you delve deeper into Thimphu. Kickstart your morning with an exhilarating mountain bike ride to the scenic viewpoints around the city. Then, immerse yourself in Bhutan’s rich cultural heritage with a visit to the National Folk Heritage Museum, where you can learn about traditional Bhutanese life and customs. Finally, embark on a unique fly-fishing experience in the pristine waters of the Wang Chhu River. Unwind from the action-packed day with an evening of free time to relax and enjoy your last night in Thimphu.
Dochula Pass and Punakha
Day 5 begins with an enchanting drive from Thimphu to Punakha, journeying through the breathtaking Dochula Pass. Your first stop in Punakha will be the historic Punakha Dzong, located at the convergence of the Pho Chhu and Mo Chhu rivers. Then, embark on a thrilling afternoon river rafting adventure along the Mo Chhu River, before settling in for the night amidst the tranquil surroundings of this picturesque town.
Journey to the Gangtey Valley on Day 6, where you’ll explore Gangtey Monastery, a revered sanctuary that rests amidst the valley’s rolling hills. Immerse yourself in the valley’s natural wonders with a guided nature walk through the Phobjikha Valley, and get to know the majestic black-necked cranes who are protected in this area.
Trongsa Dzong and Swiss Cheese Factory
Travel from Gangtey to Bumthang on Day 7, passing through the historic town of Trongsa. At the heart of Trongsa stands the Trongsa Dzong, one of Bhutan’s largest and most impressive dzongs. Continue your journey to Bumthang Valley, often referred to as the cultural heartland of Bhutan. Conclude the day with a relaxing evening in Bumthang.
Day 8 begins with a morning exploration of Bumthang’s monasteries and temples, offering a glimpse into the region’s rich spiritual heritage. Afterward, enjoy a cycling tour through the picturesque Bumthang Valley, passing by traditional villages and farms. Visit the Swiss Cheese Factory for a unique cheese-making demonstration, and join an optional bonfire in the evening, complete with traditional music and dance, for an unforgettable cultural experience.
Mongar – Trashigang
On Day 9, drive from Bumthang to Mongar, crossing the breathtaking Thrumshing La Pass. Along the way, make a stop at Sengor village to enjoy panoramic views of the surrounding mountains. Upon reaching Mongar, spend time exploring the town and its vibrant local markets before settling in for an overnight stay.
On Day 10, continue your journey to Trashigang, the easternmost district of Bhutan. En route, visit the renowned Drametse Monastery, famous for its traditional masked dance festivals. Once in Trashigang, take time to explore the town and visit the local handicraft centers before retiring to your hotel for the night.
Samdrup Jongkhar
On Day 11, drive from Trashigang to Samdrup Jongkhar, a town bordering Assam, India. Visit Dewathang along the way, a village renowned for its exquisite bamboo products. Spend the evening relaxing in Samdrup Johngkhar.
Embark on an exciting morning wildlife safari in the Royal Manas National Park on Day 12. Explore the park’s diverse flora and fauna, including elephants, tigers, and rare bird species. Return to Samdrup Jongkhar in the afternoon and stay overnight in the town.
Farewell
Begin the drive back to Thimphu on Day 13, where you’ll have the afternoon at your leisure for last-minute souvenir shopping or relaxation. In the evening, enjoy a farewell dinner featuring traditional Bhutanese cuisine to celebrate your journey thus far.
Bid farewell to Thimphu on Day 14, your last full day in Bhutan, and start your return journey to Paro. Once there, visit the iconic Paro Dzong and explore the National Museum to gain firsthand insights into Bhutan’s rich history and culture. In the evening, officially conclude your adventure with a captivating farewell dinner, accompanied by cultural performances.
On Day 15, our team will transfer you to Paro International Airport for your departure, carrying with you memories of an unforgettable Bhutanese adventure.
